Grumichama-Orange

Grumichama - Black is a small evergreen tree from southern Brazil growing up to 2 to 5m high. It likes a full sun to part shade position in fertile soil with good drainage. The small orange edible fruit is a similar size to a cherry and somewhat similar in taste. Eat fruit fresh or use to make jams, preserves or sauces. The bark and leaves contain tannins and essential oil. The wood is used for general carpentry. The tree is self pollinating and also grows well in a pot. Can be used as a hedging plant.
